» Nicholas Binkley has joined the board of directors of UnionBanCal Corp. He is founding partner of the private equity firm Forrest, Binkley & Brown.

» Financial Stocks Inc. hired Michael McMahon as managing director of the private equity division, leading the new San Francisco office. He was a managing director of Sandler O’Neill & Partners LP.

» The nonprofit finance-professionals group CFA Society of San Francisco honored Russell Fuller as a Distinguished Member. He is president of Fuller & Thaler Asset Management. The group also recognized Newton Don for his volunteer efforts.

» Victoria Grey was hired as the new VP of strategic alliances at GroundWork Open Source, a San Francisco software and systems firm. She was VP of sales and marketing at EMC Insignia.

» WageWorks, a San Mateo benefits-software firm, hired Joe Jackson as CEO. He was president of Western Union Global Payment Services.

» Obopay, a Redwood City firm that allows people to make payments via their mobile phones, hired Dave Johnson as CFO. He was treasurer of the town of Moraga.
