SAIC wins part of Defense contract worth up to $465 million

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Science Applications International Corporation will be one of five firms providing integration services under a $465 million defense contract, the McLean-based company announced Monday.
Under the multiyear contract, from the Defense Department’s Joint Test and Evaluation Program Office, SAIC will work to streamline processes between military branches.
While each branch of the military works together, the systems in place are often different, SAIC spokeswoman Melissa Koskovich said. Her firm will work to bridge the differences, developing new systems if necessary.
SAIC is one of four companies that will compete for task orders as part of the five-year contract.
As of press time, the Defense Department had not identified the other three companies.
Chuck Zang, senior vice president and general manager of SAIC’s Science and Systems Engineering Solutions Business Unit, described the contract as a “strategic win” for the contractor.

HR 1873 does not require immediate recertification of companies registered as a small business. This goes directly against the spirit of the Small Business Act of 1953. HR 1873 has absolutely no provisions of any kind that would stop Hundred's of Fortune 1000 firms and international firms that have received federal small business contracts from continuing to receive billions in federal small business contracts until 2012.
