Vienna (Map, News) - Vienna-based Navy Federal Credit Union will expand its operations with a new call center in Florida and 31 additional branches, including a Rockville location, officials announced earlier this week. Navy Federal will hire about 1,000 additional employees, the majority in Florida, to staff the expansions.

Navy Federal has two call centers, one in Vienna and one in Pensacola Bay, Fla. A new $120 million call center in Beulah, Fla., will more than double the credit union’s call capacity, Navy Federal spokeswoman said.

The new branches, which are in addition to 116 worldwide locations, will open on a staggered schedule through 2008. The Rockville branch opened Wednesday. Navy Federal has $27 billion in assets and serves 2.8 million customers throughout the world.
