Fairfax County police have ruled the deaths of a husband and wife in their home Monday a homicide-suicide.

A teenage girl returned to her Kingstowne town house from school Monday afternoon and found her mother dead in their home on Sky Blue Court, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. After executing a search warrant, crime scene investigators found the body of an unidentified man in the bathroom of the home, according to police spokeswoman Keela Lowry.

Police now believe the body found in the bathroom was that of the husband, 54-year-old Samuel Appiah-Kusi. The wife has been identified as 45-year-old Monica Telfer.

Autopsies conducted Tuesday show both died of gunshot wounds.

The girl phoned authorities at about 2:30 p.m.

Fairfax County has already been shaken by a domestic murder-suicide this year. In July, George Mason University law professor and former U.S. Commerce Department official William Lash III, 45, reportedly shot and killed his 12-year-old son and himself in their McLean home.
