Brown’s upcoming move to the lieutenant governor’s office will unseat another Prince George’s resident, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele. But while the parties will change, the task of balancing the needs of Marylanders throughout the state with those of Prince George’s residents stays the same, according to a senior fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park.
“There’s no doubt that he needs to be a statewide lieutenant governor,” said Peter Shapiro, a senior fellow in the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership. “But at the same time he is of Prince George’s County. ... We’re all expecting that he’ll bring home the bacon.”
