SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Less than two weeks after a Genentech employee was shot late at night during a road-rage incident, two United Parcel Service employees were shot and cut with a machete early Saturday morning in the same area.

The two men are in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital after the incident, South San Francisco police reported.

“Everything right now is up in the air,” Det. Dan Wright said of the investigation.

At 12:47 a.m. Saturday morning, the two UPS employees were drinking in an overflow parking lot at Gull Drive and Forbes Boulevard when an unknown number of suspects assaulted them with a gun and a machete, police reported.

They suffered injuries on their hands, arms, backs, abdomens and heads.

Police described the suspects as Hispanic males wearing black clothes and driving two vehicles, an older gray four-door Chevrolet Caprice or Impala and a 1980s model Ford Taurus with tinted windows.

On Oct. 15, a Genentech employee was leaving work at 10:44 p.m. when a white-four-door sedan pulled behind him on Forbes Boulevard. At some point an altercation between the vehicles occurred before the white car pulled in front of the victim. Stopped at Oyster Point Boulevard and Airport Boulevard, the suspect got out of his car and shot the victim several times.
