Trinity and Catholic universities reported record student enrollments Wednesday at a meeting with the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

“This is the largest freshman class in more than three decades,” said Ann Pauley, director of media relations at Trinity. “We are very excited about receiving record numbers.”

There are currently 500 students at Trinity’s College of Arts and Science, the most traditional college of the three schools at Trinity. The all-women’s college will welcome more than 190 freshmen this fall. Approximately 750 freshmen and their families will attend the opening orientation today at Catholic University, which Jonathan Sawyer, dean of students at Catholic, called “the largest class in history.”

“The Joint Military Intelligence College also reported their highest year, and they just graduated,” said Sally Kram, director of public and governmental affairs at the Dupont Circle-based consortium.
