Radford University is the only one of Virginia's 15 four-year state-supported schools to see a decline in fall enrollment.

Figures posted on the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia's Web site show that Radford's enrollment was down by 252 students, a 2.8 percent drop.

Enrollment at the other state-supported four-year universities and schools rose or was flat.

Radford President Penelope Kyle has attributed the school's enrollment decline to the economy and a lack of experienced admissions personnel.

Radford spokesman Jeff Douglas said Tuesday that the school's new vice provost of enrollment planning, Steven Nape, has been working to reverse the decline.
