Administrators of a Ronald McDonald House in Columbia are working on plans for a new building.

They say it is needed because the Children's Hospital is moving from University Hospital to Columbia Regional Hospital in the spring.

And the Ronald McDonald House needs to be close to the Children's Hospital so parents can be close to their ailing youngsters.

The Ronald McDonald House provides free lodging, food, laundry services and other amenities to families of hospitalized children.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri has received a $100,000 grant from its global affiliate. Community fundraising efforts will begin next year.
