Company president Michael Salsieder says a news release Tuesday that the layoffs are a result of the continuing decline in the residential and commercial construction industry.
He says Kolbe & Kolbe plans to bring back as many employees as possible this spring, when it's hoped the economy will improve and the usual winter building slowdown will be over.
Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple says Kolbe & Kolbe has been a good corporate citizen and he's confident they'll overcome this setback.
