A three-alarm fire has been reported at a southeast Portland elementary school.

The fire at Marysville Elementary began at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, and the thick black smoke was visible from downtown Portland.

Portland Fire Bureau spokeswoman Kim Kosmas says the school's 460 students and 17 teachers have been evacuated and there are no reports of injuries. She says the students were sent to a nearby library.

Kosmas says firefighters were battling the flames from inside and outside the school.

According to Portland Public Schools Web site, the school is more than 80 years old and serves kindergarten through 8th grade.
