A former supervisor at a regional human service center has pleaded not guilty to charges that she forged prescriptions to get painkillers.

Tami Byzewski (beh-ZES'-kee) is charged with two counts of illegally obtaining a controlled substance.

Authorities say the 39-year-old Byzewski used the prescription pad of psychiatrist at the Northeast Human Service Center in Grand Forks. She allegedly forged his signature and had the prescriptions filled at area pharmacies in August. She also faces drug-related charges in Minnesota.

Byzewski supervised more than 20 state employees in a program that serves people with mental illnesses. She resigned in September.
