Horizon Air jet makes emergency landing in Calif

I was on that flight upon take off we heard a big bang and the plane shook very much you could heard the landing gear hitting the bottem of the plane as the landing gear retracked

Jimmy is a stud, and Sarah is a very capable (and cute) pilotess. The DHC-8 is a tank. No problem man (in Jamaican accent)!

I was on that plane and the crew was GREAT! The pilot (Jimmy) and co-pilot (Sarah) handled the situation well; we were able to leave via the airplane stairs (although it DID lean a bit!) and the assigned flight attendant (Dee) as well as a flight attendant who was on the flight as a passenger, performed admirably. Very impressive.

I was on united flight 158 out of San Francisco bound for Chicago. United is covering up the truth of what happened! I was sitting in the back seat with a clear view of the engine that exploded in flames!It was shooting out giant fireballs and within minutes all the windows where I was sitting were all fire you couldnt even see out of them!The plane filled up with toxic smoke that burned our eyes and lungs! We were all exposed to it. But yet in the united report they state that smoke didnt enter the cabin until after all passengers were off the plane!An outright lie! We were all exposed to cancer causing agents!!! Sure we made it on the ground but is it going to kill us in the future? The plane was delayed for 2 hours before they finally loaded us all on it.They knew something wasnt right with it , but yet they loaded us all on it anyways!All the passengers should start a lawsuit for what they did to us!!!!

It was very frightening to say the least. The noise sounded like an explosion and then the cabin smoke detectors went off - it made you very uneasy. Having to go back home and return again in the morning did not make me happy. I lost a whole day of vacation due to this. It didn't make you feel comfortable having to fly again.

Interesting...we had a compressor fail on a UA 767 during takeoff from HNL to SFO on the 6th of August. We were just about at the point of lift off when they lost power. Pilot brought the plane to a stop without incident and we returned to the gate.

I was on the UA-158 flight scheduled for a delayed departure at 11:36pm to Chicago and fell asleep before take off, only to be awakened by a loud sound/rumbling and what felt like turbulence at 11:55pm. I smelt something burning as the cabin filled up with smoke and the emergency alarms went off. A flight attendant ran from the back of the plane to alert the pilot and then we heard an announcement overhead that the plane was turning around back to SFO for an emergency landing. I was scared that we wouldn't make it but we landed safely at the airport ~12:15am and I headed straight home, very shaken but thankful to God. I later received a notification that the flight was cancelled.

The information provided by the United spokesperson is false. The engine caught on fire during flight and the cabin filled with smoke. United did not offer to put up the passengers and made them wait in line for hours to reserve their next flight.

I was also on the plane. The smoke came into the cabin immediately after whatever happened to the engine. We flew for about 6 minutes (on no engine, or very low power of the second) because there was no engine noise. Just smoke and alarms going off. After a minute or two they turned off the alarms and told us we would be landing. as we approached emergency vehicles were ready...but we didn't need to evac on the runway. we made it to the gate. They wanted us to wait till they figured out what happened before allowing us to deboard. Given the smoke on the plane they changed their mind in about 30 seconds. It was a scary moment. United was very disorganized in trying to handle it...but it was 1 in the morning at that point, I imagine all the united staff that was still at the airport was pretty tired. At least they tried.

I was on this plane and I would like to share how we were treated. First, the pilot told the Pit tower before landing there were 140 "souls" on the plan. A spare plane was brought in but we did not start boarding until after 5:40 Eastern time. Around 10:00 we were told the flight was cancelled but it was ok because "40 rooms have been reserved". 40 rooms? For how many passengers? By the time I got off the plane, all of the rooms were taken and the United system was down and unable to contact any hotels. After calling United, they kindly offered a $100 voucher for our troubles. $100 to sleep in an airport? They did proudly announce that they were getting another plane just for us that was scheduled to leave at 11:00 a.m....We rented a car and drove. We arrived at O'Hare 2 hours before the flight was scheduled to leave. Oh...it's now 11:00 Central and the plane has still not left Pittsburgh.

I am still waiting for my father to arrive in Chicago after experiencing that emergency landing. I bought him this ticket to visit his grandchildren as a gift for his 75th birthday and I am outraged at the treatment he has received from United Airlines. It is now 8:42pm and he has been led on and off the replacement plane several times. Now it is late and he still has no idea what time he will arrive in Chicago or if he ever will take off. He says that he has been told there is a skeleton crew at Pittsburgh airport and that he is not being well informed. I will NEVER fly United again.

I was on the 4:00pm flight from atlanta to memphis yesterday (same plane)and we heard and felt a series of strong shudders at cruising altitude that the pilot later attributed to loose luggage. When I got home I learned about engine trouble on the following flight. Very disturbing!

Federal government should shut down Delta Airlines. Delta is a terrible airline.
