Wet weather moving through Georgia in advance of storms along the Gulf Coast has dropped as much as four inches of rain in parts of the state and has put officials in Alpharetta on watch for flooding.

National Weather Service forecaster Kent McMullen says the agency has issued a flood warning for where Big Creek, in effect until Friday afternoon. Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard says officials have road barriers ready in anticipation of shutting off access to Kimball Bridge Road, near the creek.

The state remains under a flash flood watch. Meanwhile, forecasters say Ida has weakened to a tropical depression.

About just under two inches had fallen at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport by early Tuesday afternoon.
