Ocala officer shoots suspect in leg

Hey jim it must be nice to say that the police are wrong and judge the officers for using deadly force but what ever reason or nature of the call that the police were there for no one and i mean no one has the right to attack a police officer no matter what SO DONT MAKE JUDGEMENTS INTILL U NO THE FACTS OF WHAT HAPPENED JIM............

This was a clear violation of this man's constitutional rights. They officers had no right to lay their hands on this victim. We do not live in a police state. And why did the officers shoot this man? Because he supposedly picked up a chair and was about to hit an officer? That doesn't sound life threatening to me. I live right down the road from where this happened and let me tell you, people are outraged at this abuse of power. What crime did this person commit before the police came and harassed him in his own front yard?! The county will be sued and they will lose this case. Especially when the wife testifies on behalf of her husband that he did nothing to him and the actions of the police were all unjust and unnecessary. How would you feel if a mob of police came harassing you in your own front yard? Putting their hands on you like you were a criminal. I am 100% with the victim in this case. The police had no right to do what they did and they WILL get what's coming to them.

You state that you don't trust this "officer" I find your statement ignorant. Do you know this officer? Are you friends with this officer? Do you understand what these people have to go through everday of their lives. This officer... no quotations needed because he is in fact an officer protects the town you live in everday. When "thugs" and quotations are needed because in reality, these are just worthless people... shoot one another.. no one has anything to say about it. When an OFFICER of the law, protects those he works for and the rest of society, everyone has an issue with it. He was doing what he was trained to do. Can you tell me that if someone was coming after your child, mother father you would not protect them?

shawn cannady was a very good friend, son, and father and for some of you to say he got what was coming to him is unbelievable. baltimore police are crooked and he was shot in the head at close range with no drugs or any weapons on him. I hope he loses his job and goes to jail and then meets up with a family member of who's life he ended. it's not for us to judge but he shall reap what he sows. they give anybody a badge nowadays. more than half of the department are under 30 party at 18 and ova nightclubs and are either a blood or a crip. If it was your son, or father, brother or homeboy you woukld have a completly different outlook. he graduated from high school and then furthered his education at tesst and had his life taken because a ROOKIE wanted to play Mr. BIGSHOT... If he doesnt pay for his actions you will hear more about police deaths than you will here about civillians... R.I.P MERL WE MISS YOU

And now for some real news........honestly people, don't we have more pressing matters to help the public with? But if you must report on these cops and robbers stories, at least get them all. How many murders were there in Baltimore last year? How many were cops? How many were criminals? How many were innocent? What's wrong with criminals getting killed in the course of committing a crime? C'mon people, I don't care if he was a nice guy, so what, he still deserves to reap the consequences of his actions.

I knew Michael for a short time, actually dated him.. a very loving and warm man.. the profile or the "story" that he shot at a police officer and they defended themselves which "killed" him.. is something i absolutely DON'T believe.. we've heard enough stories about officers ... they protect their own... if they were wrong.. we'd never know! May Michael be at peace now and i hope the officers can live with themselves..

I don't trust this "officer". Was "she" drunk when the shooting happened. Where was Jack Odom? There needs to be an independent investigation.

Every time one of these criminals gets shot by the police--the family says he was a good person! First this is not the Middle East or other half baked country. If you fire a gun,either into the air or at someone those bullet's have to stop somewhere. To discharge a firearm in a public area is illegal. So that is a crime and needs to be address by everyone, the neighborhoods as well as police. If you see it being done and do not report those doing it you are just as guilty. If you have thugs,Black or White involved in this report them. The police who responding to shots fired are trained to protect themselves. People need to understand this and learn that if you are breaking the law you have to pay the price. It was once said if you can't do the time don't do the crime. When you run with dogs you will get fleas. So mommas don't let your chill-en grow up to be thugs and lowlifes. If you do please only look in the mirror to see the guilty party as to why you are starring into that casket. Wake up Baltimore the Supreme Court agrees you have the right to bear arms. the police officers have the right to defend themselves,when they are being shot at,so i dont condem them for that,its just it looks bad because of all the bad shootings that have taken place in baltimore,at least thease criminals were armed

All the cousins come out of the woodwork. Amazing. The "My Baby Never Hurt No One" Defense is for those who can't handle the truth. The truth is I knew this guy and his crew on Robinson Street. They were bad news and always a threat. They threatened me and my wife on more than one occasion, loitered, dealt drugs and were generally no good. Everyone around here knows "that house". Now the cops do too. It's about time the block gets cleaned out. Too many good people have put up with this for too long. Too many good neighbors have fled. I am so happy the police are finally dealing with this the right way. The thugs in Highlandtown need to wake up and realize we are taking the neighborhood back. This crew and all like it will be broken soon. It is a shame good people have had to suffer (Zach Sowers) for this neighborhood to get noticed and cleaned out. Good job BCPD.

first of all my nephew did not have a gun he were justtrying to get away from the officer when he started to run when the police shot him in the back serveral times i think the police should be retrained in all aspects of gun control my nephew were probably scare at the officer command they have no respect at all for no human being sometimes they think they are above the law.

For you who can't understand 1. Why the officer left and how could he be scared after the shooting, and 2. Why didn't they find the gun and bike on the scene at the time of the shooting? You obviously are not familiar with this area so here is what I want you to do. Today, the temp will be in the 80's. I want you to take a beach chair, folding chair (or no chair) and around 7:30 this evening (about the same time as the shooting) go and sit in the courtyard where this occurred. I guarantee you, as an outsider, not born and raised there and with no peeps to vouch for your being there, you won’t last 15 minutes with YOUR property and if you balk your life. Then see how long after the first person approaches you that one person turns into 75 (about 15 seconds). THEN, call the police for help, and from the time the first car pulls up to the time they set foot in the courtyard, see how fast it takes YOUR stuff to disappear and you won’t even be able to describe the person who took it,

He was delusional and frightened. His family begged the police to help them get him to a hospital. But the police said they could not help unless he agreed to go or acted out. David walked away from his home that day frightened and alone, not knowing where to go or what to do. The help he desperately needed was beyond his grasp. After he returned home desperate and fearful, everything quickly spiraled out of control and his whole world fell apart. Now, when I see him in his hospital room, it breaks my heart. There he lays in his bed, a bullet pressing against his spine. I wonder if he will ever walk again. How will he feel about all this once his mind is clear, and he realizes the gravity of what has happened? People here just know him as a name in a newsclip. I know him very well. He is my nephew.

Kudoes to the Police Officer who shot this lowlife. The only problem is that as a taxpayer I am paying for his hospitalization since the majority of these people who commit crimes do not have insurance. That is why I would appreciate the police finishing these people off completely at the time of the shooting. Also, we taxpayers would not have to foot the bills for their court trials and lawyers. Have you seen the budget for the Public Defender's Office recently? It's astronomical!

It's sad to say but he needed that.I knew him he was not a nice guy he would kill someone for looking at him the wrong way....but that is just a nother black man turned bad by the streets of baltimore ...i am just a 17 year old man i say because i am alot smarter then alot of people my age...thanks for your time

I do not think that his criminal record is an issue. The fact of the shooting in the days events is all that really matters. I loved my cousin and at the very young age of 25 he has left this world.
