A tribute to the 1960s singer-songwriter is set for Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in the auditorium at McNally Smith College of Music.
Faculty member Gary Rue will be joined by 14 musicians and vocalists from the school in the free concert. Rue was Pitney's music director in North America for nearly 20 years. He'll share road stories as well as arrangements from their last performance together - on Valentine's Day 2006.
Pitney died less than two months later after a concert in Wales. His string of hits included "24 Hours From Tulsa," "(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance," and "Town Without Pity."
