Our family vacation for October is Cancelled because Beaches is closed until November 15th. However American Airlines has us hostage. There are no seats to Jamaiica and we want to vacation there. Tropical Storm Hanna has caused severe flooding and wind damage throughout Haiti, just shortly after both Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gustav hit 90% of Haiti. Trees have been uprooted and houses washed away. The crops all over the island are destroyed, and more than 1000 lives have been lost. The poor people in Haiti are suffering more than ever. HAITI CHERI HARVEST LIFE MINISTRIES is doing what we can to help with food and medical supplies. There seems to be plenty of food in the commercial warehouses in Haiti, so we are sending money down to purchase the food and give it away. Even though the food is expensive, it is still more cost effective to purchase the food there rather than fly it in. Our Microfinance director are purchasing rice, beans, cooking oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, corn meal, and sugar in the country. Only the SE Bahamas have been affected by Ike. It's business as usual in Nassau, we have beautiful weather today, it's hard to believe there is such a devastating storm just a couple of hundred miles south of us.

So with all of this happening, i have to wonder if the Bahamas Government is going to close the schools? If they are going to close the schools when will it be open again?

I was in Houston when TROPICAL STORM Allison flooded the area in 2001. A stationary subtropical storm can do as much damage as a full-blown hurricane. An unassuming tropical storm can still be dangerous, if it brings torrential rain to a single area. Hope that the storm leaves the area sooner, rather than later.
