Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon says she's "excited" about the prospect of putting theft charges behind her.

Jury selection for Dixon's trial is set to begin Monday. She says she's looking forward to "getting it over with and moving on" with her life.

The Democratic mayor is accused of stealing gift cards donated for needy families. She has denied all wrongdoing. If convicted, she would be thrown out of office.

Attorneys in the case have filed a flurry of motions in the past two weeks. On Wednesday, prosecutors filed a motion seeking to bar Dixon's lawyers from introducing evidence of her accomplishments as mayor, calling such evidence "irrelevant."

Meanwhile, Dixon's attorneys have opposed a request from prosecutors to call some of the same witnesses multiple times.
