Police investigate officer-involved shooting

So why are you saying the suspect ran into the officer? When he was making a u-turn. Also so why did the officer have to shoot him if he was running away to get away from the officer?Also why didn't the officer use his stun gun?

I'm a little confused by some of the comments criticizing the correctional officer. A good kid? Do good kids rob people? No. This was not a good kid. So he had a toy gun. When reacting the officer doesn't have time to figure out if it is a toy or not. If it looks like a gun, it needs to be treated like a gun. Forget the tazer idea. You don't bring a tazer to a gun fight. Just not smart. And while the police might not be the most pleasant people to interact with, remember they spend a lot of time interacting with scum. There are a LOT of bad people in this city. I've had my life threatened more than once. The MAJORITY of the folks I know who live in Baltimore have been mugged, assaulted, or burgled at least once. I've lived here in a decent neighborhood for three years and I've had crap stolen, property vandalized, and my life threatened ... in my own front yard. Th city is a cess pool. Blame the parents. Blame the culture. Blame the kid.

What's wrong with shooting someone who pulls a gun on you? Anyone that sympathizes with this boy needs to have their head examined. And no, the fact that it was a toy doesn't change a thing. The boy presented it as the real thing and was dealt with accordingly.

It appears, yet again, that police are the only people who are allowed to defend themselves. I will never visit Baltimore again.

As long as he pulled a gum on a officer he deserved to be shot. These officers put their life on the line to try to help and protect the citizens. If some miss guided kid or adult pulls a gun and points it at you shoot to kill as that;s what he or she was going to do to you.

That is a God awful shame that a man not in his right mind is killed by a 4 yr vet on the force.. Why are mnot more experienced officiers and trained suicide specialists on a case like this?????? What has our world come to .. he needed help not to be killed!!!!!

Yeah seems like a load of BS on the cops part. Their story has conflicting details and this kid was decent for sure. It is too bad the cops now a days have to treat all young kids as criminals even to the death. I know that I have been treated poorly by all but one cop in my life. Its too bad they make kids dislike their authority when they abuse it in certain situations. RIP Brandon

Brandon Winn planned on buying a Xbox 360 game consol 3 games, 2 controllers. He exchanged info with the other idividual and met up with him but instead of having money he had a gun. He robbed the dude and forgot the the dude knew his name number and address. That was his mistake. He has no one to blame but himself, and why on earth would he pull out a gun on a cop? That was his mistake. Why on earth would he rob someone that knew his information.

Yea, a little common sense goes a long way. When the police tell you to stop and show your hands, if you do so this would be avoided. But then that wouldn't be sensational enough would it?

The NAACP needs better opinions, they need to start taking ridealongs in the eastern district to see their "community" and whats going on there. Some of Baltimore's citizens need better training.

David Soto Jr is my step dad Emmanuel soto's nephew and i have known David soto for over 6 years and he was a very quiet kid he never cursed or raised his voice to no one so there is no way he would pull out a gun on a officer! also i have herd on other news channels some cop was saying that they did not know wheather he pulled out a knife or a gun while the other cop was saying that he was scared for his life it does not make no scense.why couldnt they have used a tasor gun that would of knocked him down they did not have to go as far as killing him they took him away from us!the glendale police department needs to get their story straight.also one of the neighbors said they herd 7 shots why did they need to shoot 7 times there was only 1 guy there also the description was a hispanic male that was 5'10" weighing about 210lbs when david is way smaller than that they just saw that he was wearing a grey shirt how many people wear gray around there watch out for the police they kill

I have to agree with Michelle on this one it is a sad situation in a great city when the police resort to intimidation, threats, slander & defamation of character and hide behind their badges. The community needs to come together and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If you did not know this kid he was someone's brother, son, nephew and grandchild who had a hard childhood but managed to graduate high school and was in the process of joining the military, but Glendale PD isnt telling anyone this about him instead they rather the public believe he was a gang member trying to kill a cop. The comments of "one less to worry about" & good job Glendale PD" do nothing but hurt a family who has lost a loved one and is grieving> How would you feel if this was your family and they had to read that crap? I hope those that wrote that crap never have to feel what this family is going through.

This is so sad! He was a gerat kid who was not part of the gand life life in Glendale, but of coarse that is what the Glendale PD are "saying!" All I have to say is yes Glendale PD did it again..... they killed another with no remorse. This is the problem in Glendale we are more afraid of "our" ploice officer hurting and killing us, them them protecting us! SOTO was a great kid with a lot ahead of him, he will be missed by a lot of people. May his soul rest in peace with his mother now! WE ALL LOVE U SOTO!
