Sirhan Sirhan, convicted in the 1968 killing of the New York senator, has been confined for years in a secure unit at the state prison at Corcoran along with high risk prisoners such as Charles Manson. Sirhan's attorney, William F. Pepper, says Sirhan is now in the Pleasant Valley State Prison at Coalinga.
Pepper said Monday he wrote to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last week protesting his client's transfer. Pepper says he has new evidence and wants to reopen Sirhan's conviction.
Sirhan is serving a life sentence.
A message was left with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
