A judge Thursday ordered Alex Youshock to provide mouth swabs so prosecutors can compare his DNA to genetic material found on a pair of gloves and the handle of a sword.
Assistant District Attorney Karen Guidotti says her office has witnesses and other items to use as evidence in the incident at San Mateo's Hillsdale High School on Aug. 24, but prosecutors also wanted to use scientific means to link the teen to the objects.
No one was injured in the alleged attack, which ended when faculty members wrestled Youshock to the ground.
