Two people were killed in separate attacks in Northwest Washington.

The first incident happened about 10 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Longfellow Street Northwest. Police found 20-year-old Jose Miguel Ramirez, of the 900 block of Longfellow Street, suffering from multiple stab wounds.  He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead. Police charged D.C. resident Octavious Terry, 20, of Northwest D.C., with first-degree murder.

About three hours later, around 1 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a double shooting on the 300 block of Decatur Street Northwest.

Officers found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to an area hospital. One of the men, Jason Fannell, 27, of the 400 block of Kennedy Street Northwest, died. The other victim remained in critical condition.

His identity was being withheld because is he considered to be a witness in this case.

The District has had 115 homicides this year, a 7.4 percent increase from the same time last year.

The Police Department offers a reward of $25,000 for information that leads to a conviction in a homicide case.
