Jim Zorn isn’t wasting a lot of time on wondering what his emotions will be like for his home debut Saturday night. He has too many other things to worry about.

“I do have a job to do,” he said.

His job will be more difficult thanks to a banged-up secondary. Corner Shawn Springs (Achilles strain) might be ready, but fellow starting corner Carlos Rogers (knee) likely won’t play. Safety LaRon Landry (hamstring) won’t play.

But two key starters will play vs. Buffalo Saturday night.

Jason Taylor » The Redskins new defensive end will make his debut, but likely will be limited to approximately five plays. He looked sharp in practice rushing against Jon Jansen yesterday, often pulling up as he got to the quarterback. Taylor does an excellent job of maximizing his footwork and gets his hands into the blocker’s chest rather easily. He also excels on stunts and loops because he wastes no steps.

Clinton Portis » He’ll play in a preseason game for the first time since the 2006 opener vs. Cincinnati — when he hurt his shoulder making a tackle following an interception. Don’t look for Portis to get more than a couple carries.
