Cornerback Samari Rolle arrived at training camp on Monday for the first time since the death of his father, Harry, last month.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Rolle was ready to take the field, but was held back so the 11-year veteran could take his physical.

“The thing about Samari, he was in his uniform,” Harbaugh said. “He came in [Monday] morning. I think he had a 5:30 a.m. flight coming out of South Florida, and he was dressing for practice. Well, we had to give him a physical [first]. That’s part of the process … He’s excited and ready to go.”

Harbaugh offered no clues who would start at quarterback when the team opens the preseason against New England on Thursday night at 7:30 in Foxborough, Mass.

He said Kyle Boller, Troy Smith and rookie Joe Flacco would all get in the game, but it’s uncertain how many snaps each will take.

“We have a plan, but you don’t know in a particular quarter how many reps you’re going to get,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve got a target for reps, and we’ll see how it shakes out in the end.”

Boller, Smith and Flacco have each spent time with the first-team offense, but none has emerged as the favorite to win the job. The Ravens have four preseason games before opening the regular season on Sept. 7 against Cincinnati.

“I have no idea,” Boller said. “I wish I could tell you, but I have no idea. I just come out here every day to practice never knowing who’s going to be the one, the two or the three. I just get ready to try to have a great practice.”

INJURY UPDATE

Rookie offensive tackle Oniel Cousins returned to practice Monday after sitting out the past few days with an injured right knee. Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata took part in individual drills and moved with out a brace on his sprained right knee. Those who did not practice Monday morning included: wide receiver Patrick Carter (dislocated left shoulder), running backs Willis McGahee (left knee) and P.J. Daniels, linebackers Dan Cody (right foot) and Edgar Jones, offensive tackles Jared Gaither (right ankle) and Adam Terry (left ankle), tight ends Aaron Walker (left knee) and Todd Heap (right calf) and defensive tackle Kelly Gregg (left knee).
