To get your creative juices flowing, put on stretch clothing and your favorite music, and come onto your hands and knees to table pose. Move the hips in a circle to awaken the spine and work out any kinks in your body (especially good to do when you need a break from spending too much time in your head during the creative process).
Bring your right foot in between your hands and wiggle your right foot forward. Straighten your front leg and flex your front foot. Keep your hips directly over your dropped left knee. If you need cushion under your back knee, place a blanket underneath it or double fold your mat lengthwise to provide extra cushion. Inhale and lengthen your spine long. Exhale and fold forward as you lengthen your chin to your shin. Continue this gentle movement for five to 10 deep, full breaths. Return to table pose to repeat half split on your left side.
This pose is a must-have for awakening the calves and hamstrings, lengthening the spine, and stretching the ankle.
