Man arrested for May triple homicide

A man was arrested Saturday morning in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in Northeast D.C. in May, police said.

William McCorkle was charged with the shooting deaths of Duane Hough, Anthony Mincey and Johnny Jeter that occurred in the 1100 Block of Holbrook Street NE on May 31st.

Mayor Adrian Fenty said Saturday the events that night constituted “as harrowing a scene as you can imagine.”

“We are still seeking additional information from our community,” said Police Chief Cathy Lanier. – David Sherfinski

Maryland

Police charge 2nd teen in weapons possession case

A second teenager has been charged in connection with the illegal possession of firearms and explosive chemicals found at Rockhurst Road, according to Montgomery County police.

A 17-year-old from Gaithersburg, who was a student intern with the Montgomery County Police, was charged as a juvenile with theft, computer misuse and conspiracy.

Montgomery County Police stationery “letterhead” was found in the residence of the 17-year-old and the home of Colin McKenzie-Gude, 18. Last week, police recovered illegal weapons and components used to manufacture homemade explosives and a list of McKenzie-Gude’s teachers at a D.C. private school. — Scott McCabe

Judge sentences Chinese national in spy case

A federal judge in Alexandria sentenced a woman to a year and a half in prison for helping a spy obtain U.S. military secrets.

Yu Xin Kang, 33, is a Chinese national who helped a New Orleans furniture salesman get secret information about U.S.-Taiwanese military relations to the Communist government in Beijing, court documents state.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema said a lighter sentence was warranted in part because Kang was essentially a puppet doing the spy’s bidding. — Scott McCabe

Police: Man attempted suicide, killed girlfriend

A Manassas woman was stabbed to death, and her boyfriend was found bleeding in what police are calling a murder and attempted suicide, police said.

Chantie Brooks, 44, was found dead in the Georgetown South townhouse that she owned with her boyfriend, Mikuel Gaskins, 53, Manassas police said. Gaskins was found alive with apparently self-inflicted stab wounds. – Scott McCabe
