It's part of the weekend routine on Metrorail: track maintenance and railcar testing. Red, Blue and Yellow Line riders will have to deal with more of the same this weekend.

Here's what Metro has planned:

Red Line

Switch replacement work at the Friendship Heights station will cause single tracking between the Medical Center and Van Ness-UDC stops. That work starts at 9 p.m. today and goes until midnight Sunday. Red Line riders should add at least 20 minutes of travel time to their trips.

Blue and Yellow Lines

Trains will share one track between the Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road Metro stations because of track maintenance. The work takes place today and Saturday between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., and also between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riders should tack on an extra 20 minutes to their trips.

ROUTE 7

The Virginia Department of Transportation has work planned on Route 7 this weekend in the Leesburg area. On Route 7 westbound, at the interchange with River Creek Parkway, there will be lane closures for utility work starting 10 p.m. Saturday and lasting until 9 a.m. Sunday.

I-395

A reminder that repairs to road sensors continue on Interstate 395 North. That work is happening right before Exit 3. There will be single-lane and/or shoulder closures starting 9 p.m. At 10 p.m. there will be double-lane closures until 5 a.m. That work happens Sunday through Thursday.

BAY BRIDGE

If your travels take you across the Bay Bridge this weekend, be aware the westbound span will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span.
