Damien Simms, 29, of the 700 block of Yale Avenue, is accused of witness intimidation and second-degree assault stemming from an incident on Tuesday in the 500 block of Baker Street in central Baltimore’s Druid Heights neighborhood.
The 62-year-old woman told police that Simms “aggressively approached her” and accused her of “snitching” on him at a community meeting.
The woman allegedly said at the Saturday meeting that Simms was selling “the stop snitching drug,” which police charging documents describe as a brand name of drugs sold in the area.
The woman told police that Simms yelled at her: “That’s all right, I’ll be back ... I’m gonna take you out, I don’t give a f--- who is out here,” charging documents state.
The woman said “she is in fear for her safety and she believes ‘take you out’ means that Mr. Simms was going to come back to kill her,” according to police.
Simms told Baltimore Police Officer Gloria Davis that he did talk to the woman about the community meeting, but did not threaten her.
He said the woman was “in the meeting telling everybody his name, his description, and that he was selling ‘stop the snitching,’ ” police said.
Simms also said he didn’t initiate the conversation with the woman, but that she approached him “threatening to have him locked up,” Davis wrote in her report.
“Mr. Simms has been arrested on previous occasions for selling / distributing drugs in that same area, an area that he does not live,” Davis wrote.
Simms is currently being held on a $200,000 bond at the Baltimore City jail.
Melissa Phinn, an attorney who is representing Simms in a pending drug distribution case, did not immediately respond to a phone call.
