Anyone who drives on Route 29 in the Gainesville area will tell you it can be a real nightmare. This week a portion of the road will have to be closed so that bridge demolition work can take place.

Route 29 southbound between Heathcote Boulevard and Route 55 will be closed today to Wednesday from 5:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Delays are expected. This work is part of the I-66 widening project in the Gainesville area.

ARLINGTON — If you plan on using Route 50 in Arlington this week, you should be prepared for lane closures  as a pedestrian bridge is constructed over the roadway. Eastbound and westbound lanes will shut down between Route 7 and Patrick Henry Drive, today through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

HOT LANES — A reminder that overnight work for the HOT lanes project on the Beltway is under way. The right or left lane on the Beltway south, at the I-66 interchange, will close for pavement striping and barrier placement today through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

WILSON BRIDGE —  A heads-up for drivers on MD-210 near the Wilson Bridge. The left lane on both the northbound and southbound sides, between Wilson Bridge Drive & Kirby Hill Road, will close this week for barrier installation. That work will happen today through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
