SAN'A, Yemen (Map, News) - A Yemeni security official says a suicide car bomber has rammed a vehicle into the Interior Ministry's headquarters in eastern Yemen, killing a policeman and injuring eight others.

The security official says the attack took place early Friday in Hadramut province. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The car's charred shell sat outside the building.

The official says investigators are still trying to determine who was behind the attack. Al-Qaida continues to have an active presence in Yemen, the ancestral homeland of Osama bin Laden.

In January, two Belgian tourists and their Yemeni driver were killed in an attack on their convoy in Hadramut.
