MINNEAPOLIS (Map, News) - A former Minnesota Vikings player who put a plastic bag over his 2-year-old son's head is due to be sentenced Thursday.

Darrion Scott pleaded guilty to child endangerment July 7 in Hennepin County District Court. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old Scott put the bag on the boy's head April 28 at his Eden Prairie townhouse.

Scott told authorities he was trying to entertain the boy by putting the bag on his own head and put it on the boy's head when he became upset, to show him it wouldn't hurt him.

Prosecutors say it's unlikely Scott will serve any jail time.
