Singing the blues doesn’t always have to be a sad affair.

Take, for example, Monday’s all-blues concert at Yoshi’s, 510 Embarcadero West, in Oakland’s Jack London Square. It’s all for a joyful, celebratory cause, the George Mark Children’s House in San Leandro, which provides care to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, regardless of their ability.

The 11th annual East Bay Blues Benefit kicks off at 7:30 p.m. The one-night only deal features such righteous R&B talent as Tia Carroll, Rene Solis & Lucky 13 (featuring Dave Wilson Jr.), and the Jake Sampson Band, with special guests Curtis Lawson and Bobby Webb.

Also on the bill: the acoustic stylings of Mark “Fenny” Fenichel with Jon Lawton.

Tickets, which cost $20, are available by calling Yoshi’s box office at (510) 238-9200. For more information on the George Mark Children’s Fund, call (415) 901-8199 or visit www.georgemark.org.
