Exhibits
1. Francisco Loza and Macario Carrillo
The Huicholes in the Sierra Madre mountains developed Arte en Estambre, pressing yarn onto beeswax-covered boards. Visiting the Creative Alliance, Francisco Loza and Macario Carrillo exemplify this technique. Loza’s brightly-colored yarn paintings reflect the Huichol culture and images from Mexican life. Carrillo’s pieces, enhanced with colorful beads, narrate Huichol mythology and present-day prophecies.

2. Fourth Wall: Baltimore’s Music Voyeurs ... an exhibition of music photography
The beauty of commercial photography that captures musicians at work comes into focus when presented out of context, with no hint of the photograph’s original purpose. Fourth Wall features the work of Eldon Baldwin, J.M. Giordano, Frank Hamilton, Sam Holden, Jim Lucio, Robert Macy, Rob Perry and Josh Sisk.

3. Sculpture at Evergreen
Evergreen’s 26 acres provides an inspiring setting for 10 new temporary sculptures, created by contemporary artists from across the country in response to the property’s 150-year history, diverse collections of art and literature, and natural and architectural environments.

4. No Boundaries
For the exhibit, individuals with disabilities contributed works of art they created in the Focus on Art classes, led by Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services. The exhibit also includes pieces from a local performance of Hairspray, created by the department’s staff, volunteers and participants.

The faces of those who fought against domestic violence in Maryland are honored in House of Ruth’s traveling exhibit. First Lady Katie O’Malley, stabbing victim Jane Doe and Lisa Spicknall whose estranged, abusive husband fatally shot her 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter are among the 26 men and women recognized.
