BURLINGAME (Map, News) - A former Burlingame police officer shot and killed a 26-year-old man at close range then killed himself about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento on Monday, authorities said.

Morris Greenberg, 37, shot Anthony Dumont with a handgun during an argument inside a residence in Placerville, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

Greenberg, an 11-year veteran of the Burlingame Police Department, died after shooting himself in the head, said El Dorado Sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Golmitz.

Greenberg worked for Burlingame from Aug. 12, 1996, to April 2, 2007, said Burlingame Capt. Mike Matteucci. He retired last year in “good standing.” Golmitz said the motive for the shooting was under investigation but appeared to be domestic issues.

I can not begin to comprehend what the Dumont family is going through and I understand their being at every court hearing there will be. But, even people caught on VIDEO with witnesses plead NOT GUILTY. Morris, to get a complete trial, has to plead NOT GUILTY. I am sure it was difficult for the Dumont's to hear, but they will be hearing lots of difficult things through the trial. The men in this situation, Morris and Mr Dumont are the true losers. Barrie just skipped out of town and is getting on with her life. The men, can't do that at all. To friends of Barrie, tell her to do her husband a favor, for once, and tell the truth when she is called to the stand. She should admit she was a crappy wife that led her husband to the breaking point after years of cheating and demeaning him!

This is a very sad incident. I DO KNOW the entire family - including Pat, Lorry, Bob and the kids, and Morris was the last person, you'd ever think would be capable of such action. Regardless of everyone's personal opinions/feelings and what ever side you "FANFARE" for it proves that anyone of us, under stressful circumstances can snap. You cannot judge someone till you have walked in their shoes and no one but Morris knows what was going through his mind.

His arraingment was today, and the SOB pleaded not guilty. As far as I am concerned, Barrie is just as guilty as Mo - she led Anthony on to believe that Mo was no threat, and she got him murdered.

Barrie should be distraught--over all the families and people she's hurt--but being who she is, she's most likely distraught for herself. If she had any decency, she wouldn't be living in a place where Morris has family living. The last face they ever need to see again is hers--or is that one more example of rubbing people's noses in their pain? Friend of Barrie--you may start out as a friend, but you'll end up just another person she'll use and toss when she finds someone who can give her more or do for her more. Consider yourself warned!

Friend of Barrie, has she had any contact with Morris at all? I have to believe, there are people on here posting stuff just to be jerks but there are others who are/were friends of Barries, Morris' or Anthony's who are just trying to find out what is going on. There were posts that she was pregnant, which was sick, whoever did that. Not at all funny, this is hardly a funny situation. There is a trial on court tv right now about a man who shot and killed his wife's boyfriend. Really feel sorry for the husband, as I do Morris. The husband was yanked around quite a bit. I hope that Barrie can see the amount of stress that was put on Morris and he must have been feeling like everything was disappearing for him. His parents, his wife, his child, his house, his job. Is there a fund set up for Hannah?

This is a good friend of Barrie's and I am with her and Hannah every day and you all have it wrong. She is very upset and seeking counseling for her and Hannah. None of you are around her so how do you know what she is doing or how she is doing. She is distraught over what happened and doing her best to get Hannah adjusted to her new home here in Brentwood. If she has any decency, she would let Hannah be with people who can give her a stable life!

I am one of Morris's sisters--not half sister--his sister. There are five of us and we are brothers and sisters, no half or step--just brothers and sisters. I don't know who is writing about the "evil stepmother", but we never called her a "stepmother" or considered her one, since we were all a little too old to need a new mother. I wonder why anyone who ever cared about Morris and worries about what he is facing, would even bother writing, thinking or talking about someone who is not a part of our family. As far as my father's "wife", my siblings and I don't have a bad relationship with her--we have NO relationship, nor do any of my father's relatives. The only person or people that may have a decent relationship with her would be anyone who isn't aware of the way she behaved during my father's last days, and doesn't know what our father said to us.
