Howard County (Map, News) - A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty in Howard Circuit Court today to using his old Dunbar Armored Security uniform to dupe a bank employee into handing over more than $300,000 in cash deposits.

Robert Flanagan, 38, of Dallastown, Pa., pleaded guilty before Howard Circuit Judge Richard Bernhardt to one count of felony theft over $500. He faces up to 12 years in prison at the sentencing Sept. 19.

The prosecutor said Flanagan, a former Dunbar Armored Security employee, was wearing his old uniform when he scheduled a pick up at an Ellicott City branch of Bank of America on Dec. 13, 2007.

A bank employee gave Flanagan the bank’s prepared pick-up of $379,000 in cash, but became suspicious when he noticed Flanagan left the bank in a black Jeep Wrangler instead of a Dunbar armored vehicle.

Flanagan was also charged in a similar heist at a Kohl’s department store, but prosecutors dismissed that case in return for his guilty plea.

I agree he should pay for his crime...so should his wife. She was in it up to her eyeballs, yet is getting off scott free. Where is the justice in that????

Can you say DUHHHH??? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that someone would figure out something wasn't right when you put bags of money into a JEEP and not an armored vehicle... If you're gonna do the crime and be STUPID about it hammer him with the max...

Brilliant. If he would have stopped after the first one and high tailed it out of the country, he's be $300,000 richer. Idiot.
