At 11:12 a.m., emergency officials responded to 1233 Girard St., where Darrin Mitchell, 34, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the passenger seat of a Toyota Camry, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
The shooting occurred a block away from a San Francisco Fire Department station on the corner Girard Street and Wilde Avenue. A firefighter from the station said Mitchell had wounds in his chest and neck. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the firefighter, who declined to be named citing department policy.
A woman at the scene who identified herself as Mitchell’s sister but also refused to give her name said her brother was manic depressive and had a history of conflicts because he didn’t take medication for his ailment.
She said Mitchell survived a shotgun wound to the stomach two years ago.
“By the grace of God, he was able to live,” she said. “And now this happens.”
She said the police told her someone walked up to Mitchell while he was sitting in the car and shot him.
“I have no idea what happened,” she said. “I don’t know of anybody who would want him dead.”
A construction employee working nearby said he saw a car drive by Girard Street at least 10 times the day before, appearing to be “scouting out something.”
Police interviewed a witness to the shooting, but they have no suspect information as of Tuesday evening, according to Williams.
Mitchell’s death was the third homicide in five days in San Francisco. On Friday, Armando Estrada was shot and killed on Mission and 20th streets, and on Sunday, Frederick Marcelo was fatally gunned down at Fifth and Clementina streets. At this time last year, there were 58 homicides in San Francisco.

The previous things were hidden by O'Malley. Not sure if the new lady has the same clout. The reduction in murders isn't so much attributed to better police relations or protection but rather a Darwin approach -- survival of the fittest. Wait until the next generation grows up and/or others are released from jail.
End of the day, people can no longer call George Bush a chickenhawk. He's sending his daughter to live in the most dangerous place in America; Harm City.
