BALTIMORE (Map, News) - City police arrested a Baltimore man in connection with a string of lunchtime bank robberies Monday afternoon, police said.

Lamont Brown, 42, of 300 E. Lanvale St. admitted to robbing the Wachovia Bank branch at 7 St. Paul St., the Provident Bank branch at 114 E. Lexington St., and the M&T Bank branch at 400 E. Pratt Street Monday afternoon, police spokesman Sterling Clifford said.

A Provident Bank spokeswoman said Monday that police recovered some money taken from that branch, but would not detail how much was taken. An M&T spokesman said no money was taken, and Wachovia representatives could not immediately confirm whether money was taken from that branch.

Brown was not armed during the robbery attempts, and no one was hurt during the incidents, Clifford said.

After fleeing the M&T Bank branch, Brown remained at large for several hours. Police monitoring cameras in the downtown area recognized Brown from a description, and alerted patrol officers who took him into custody on an outstanding unrelated warrant, Clifford said.
