A man killed in the South of Market neighborhood Sunday morning became the latest victim of San Francisco gun violence in a weekend filled with several reports of shootings and stabbings.

The man, who was not identified Sunday, may have been involved in an argument with the shooter before he was killed at Fifth and Clementina streets around 12:45 a.m., police said. Police made no arrests in the case, and with few businesses on the SoMa block, police are calling on witnesses to come forward.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the 55th homicide victim in The City so far this year, one behind the 56 tallied at the same time last year when there were a decade-high 98 homicides reported by police.

The City’s 54th homicide occurred in the Mission district on Friday after a gunman opened fire with a shotgun in the daytime bustle of Mission and 20th streets.

Police believe the killing was gang-related. Armando Estrada, a 30-year-old Rodeo man, was identified as the victim.

Earlier Friday, at about 8:10 a.m., a 14-year-old summer school student was stabbed in the elbow when he was walking to class at Everett Middle School in the Mission district, police said.

The boy, who apparently got into an altercation with two suspects, was transferred to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

And early Saturday, a man standing on a San Francisco street corner was stabbed in the abdomen, police said.

The victim was standing in the area of Geary and Mason streets around 12:15 a.m. when a suspect approached the victim and stabbed him one time in the stomach, according to a police report.

The victim was reported in stable condition and is expected to survive. No suspect information was immediately available, police said.
