The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission acknowledged more problems in Montgomery County Sunday night, less than one month after a series of water main breaks brought hundreds of homes and businesses to a standstill.

According to WTOP, another water main break was to blame on Sunday, leaving some Takoma Park and Silver Spring residents without water on a steaming hot evening.  The break, along Piney Branch Rd. between Mississippi Ave. and Richie Ave., is the second in the county in less than a month. Officials closed Piney Branch Rd. in both directions, WTOP reported.

A June 15 break in the northern part of the county triggered several smaller breaks throughout the lines leading to the loss of more than 100 million gallons of fresh water before repairs could be made. The break affected more than 700 restaurants and forced tens of thousands of residents to boil drinking water as a precautionary measure.
