SAN MATEO (Map, News) - Police have released more details and a photo of the suspect in Friday’s robbery of a San Mateo bank.

The suspect walked into the Washington Mutual Bank at 1730 El Camino Real and handed a teller a demand note reading “This is a robbery,” San Mateo police Lt. Mike Brunicardi said. He received an undisclosed amount of money and then fled toward El Camino Real.

An extensive search by police yielded no clues.

The suspect is described as a thin, balding white man at least 55 years old. He was wearing a dark-colored, striped dress shirt with an open collar, Brunicardi said.

Anyone with information about the robbery or suspect is asked to call the anonymous witness hotline at (650) 522-7676.

Thats great that an armed citizen that had a handgun permit to hold off that robber until police arrived...that why you always want protection..you never know whats going to happen anywhere anytime.........There should be a nation wide permit that a person could get, rather than go through all of these different states to get one. Now wake up Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle and be like Minnesota and pass that handgun permit law...for law abdiding citizens.............
