U.N. official cancels Prince William County visit

The fact that immigrants in the region call Prince William County “Condado del Diablo,” the Devil’s County, is appalling, Principi says. Maybe Principi's Hispanic spouse may feel that way, but the majority of residents who approve of the crackdown and who have seen improvement in their own communities don't. As a matter of fact, residents from surrounding jurisdictions are moving into Prince William County because of the crackdown on illegal immigration.

Everyone`s in agreement that they should be deported, however we must put an end to them coming here working three to five years before they get caught and we give them a free airline ticket back to Mexico. Let`s put them to work cleaning ditches and roadways or whatever manual labor is needed. All this would be without pay, then after they do enough time to pay thier own way back, then we ship them out. Ounce the word gets around Mexico about what happens when caught, the traffic across the border would really slow down. If we just keep sending them home, they will just keep coming back. There needs to be strick punishment that makes it not worth the effort.

Great job Prince William county. More counties need to follow you lead on this. Lets send all of the illegal aliens back to their third world countries.

Offer what legalization for what group? Skilled jobs? The money made is not being re-invested into the USA For the most part it is being sent home to their countries. Unlike immigrants in the last century who came to become Americans, who came to give and not take. Who were part and parcel of the greatest industrial revolution. We are seeing this today with China, the next great industrial revolution without having to be invaded by illegals from neighboring countries. The government has no rights deciding how much fear and crime you must live with.

Prince William is only doing the number one job that the Department of Homeland security should be doing. That is protecting our nations borders. The United States is being invaded by another country and they are not doing nearly enough to protect us. Secondly, it`s our tax money not the Department of Homeland Security`s and if "We the people" decide that is where we would like to spend it then they should comply. This new federal bill seems like a way for the Department of Homeland Security to get out of stepping up efforts on thier end and giving them more control over who lives in our communities. Illegals do more harm to the local counties then good. They lose millions of dollars every year giving them free health care and teaching them in our schools that are already overcrowded. Please allow our local leaders to continue the great efforts that they have started. If for our own good.

We need high skilled workers who would be able to start their own bussiness and threby create jobs for others. Offer legalisation for this group of people and save the economy instead of cracking down on them.

If the ICE bergers cannot come in time charge the US government. After all they are part and parcel of the problem along with the private sector who hires, them and the states who allow this to happen. Its such a joke. Don't kid yourself kgottnohardt once illegals got wind of the Resolution in July they started leaving it only accelerated when it was passed in October of 2007 and further still when full enforcement began in March 2008. Why else would there be such an extreme drop in ESOL's in 2007 in PWC? Get your facts straight. LOL

Of course this article fails to mention the 14000 or so who have left the ESOL program since the crackdown was forced hinted at in July of 2007. So i would say the program is an extreme success. LOL

I am part Cherokee. Am i more American than others? Most of my ancestors came into this country legally,except for the ones that were already here, learned the language, worked hard for a living, paid there taxes,etc. I dont mind people coming here legally, as long as they obey the law, pay there taxes, and dont drag down the community, and can speak english. PWC's crime rate has decreased every year for the last five years, with and without the "resolution." 3. Foreclosures have forced many people to leave the county. When fewer people live in the county, it makes sense the crime rate might drop as well. 4. The police have implemented new investigations procedures (unrelated to immigration) that have also reduced crime. Stewart is using these stats for his own advantage, and too few people are analyzing what the numbers really mean.

All we have to do here in lower fairfield county is to read the police blotter. The names speak for themselves. Our mayor insists that crime is going down, but he doesn't address the crimes committed are by the same people. Most of the crimes in our blotter are hispanic names, russian and albanian names. These are people that are illegally coming into our city and nothing is being done about it. I just hope that eventually these crazy political leaders will stand up and say "enough is enough". OUr taxes sky high, our schools not save, test scores down. We have a relative on the police force and he said that half the crime is not even reported in the news. In regards to Ilegal Immigrants, they should all be arrested and deported. this country was built on all cultures however there is a process of getting into this country and we are a country of laws. Granting amnesty is not the solution. Do you think that if we went to another country they would allow is to stay if we were not there legally? not a chance they would toss us out and rightfully so. I live in the DC Area and have seen what the illegals have done to what used to be nice areas to live..they purchased my parents nice house and have since left (forclosed big surprise)and turned a beautiful 4 br house into a tenant house. It is a shame that everyone is too busy living their lives to care about the crackdown on illegal immigrants in PWC.I know a mother who is being deported because she did not have her papers with her during a traffic stop in PWC for failure to have a current sticker on her car-it had expired 2 days earlier. Her daughter (5) is a US citizen and has had several hip replacement surgeries and her mother was still in the process of getting her citizenship (it can take years). It was the first time that she had resources to help her. PWC took those away and denied her rights-makes you wonder how many other working mothers they have taken away from their children. I know nothing will be done until a hispanic member of Congress gets stopped in PWC. Please do not believe that the crime rate is due to the deportation of illegal immigrants - instead, we as the taxpayers are getting stuck with the bills for deportation! The Democrats advocating for amnesty are saying that citizenship for illegal immigrants will cost them each a $5,000 fee. In reality, what these politicians are saying is that the lives of the brave heroes we lost in this war on terror are each only worth $5,000.
