Exotic dancers’ van recovered

A stolen tour van belonging to an all-male exotic dance troupe was recovered in Northeast Washington, according to Annapolis police.

The van was stolen from the loading dock of an Annapolis bar during a performance of the Thunder From Down Under group last week, said Annapolis police spokesman Hal Dalton. The keys had been left in the van, which contained thousands of dollars of equipment, costumes and merchandise, police said. Police found the van in the 4500 block of Eads Street Northeast, at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gunfire in Rock Creek Park leads to man’s arrest

A 23-year-old Northwest D.C. man was arrested on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon after U.S. Park Police responded to the sound of rapid gunfire in Rock Creek Park early Thursday morning. Police searching Beach Drive at around 2 a.m. found Jordan D. Reid, of the 6900 block of 32nd Street Northwest, and two other males in a picnic grove in the north end of the park. One of the suspects admitted that he had fired a rifle and indicated that the weapon was in the trunk of a vehicle, police reported.

Woman found dead in Potomac River identified

The woman whose body was pulled from the Potomac River on Wednesday was identified as Helen Johnstone, 47, of the 4800 block of MacArthur Boulevard Northwest, according to D.C. police.  – Scott McCabe

Police look for man who assaulted jogger

U.S. Park Police are searching for a man who used a knife to assault a female jogger in Rock Creek Park last month. The woman was tying her shoe at the west end of Bluff Bridge when a man approached her from behind and placed a six-inch knife to her throat. The suspect was described as a thin, dark-complexioned Hispanic male, in his mid-20s, with short black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt with cut-off sleeves, light blue jean shorts, white socks and dark sneakers. Anyone with information about the incident can call Detective M.B.
