Suspects charged with knife fight after bus dispute

An Annapolis man and Baltimore teenager were arrested for an alleged knife fight after a dispute among passengers over seating on an MTA bus, Annapolis police said Tuesday.

Michael Croston, 27, and a 14-year-old boy are charged with first-degree assault and weapons violations, police said.

The suspects threatened each other with knives about 11 a.m. Monday in a parking garage on Clay Street in Annapolis.

Police said the juvenile’s mother stopped the fight by using pepper spray.

Croston is being held at the county detention center on $65,000 bail, police said, and the juvenile was released to his mother’s custody.

Police have person of interest in Jessup woman’s slaying

Laurel police have identified a person of interest in the slaying of a Jessup woman found stabbed to death in a Laurel park, city spokesman James Collins said Tuesday.

Police would not release the individual’s name and were waiting for the Prince George’s State’s Attorney’s Office to consider the evidence.

The body of Christen Hawkins, 21, was found May 27 in Riverfront Park behind the community pool on Main Street, police said.

An autopsy revealed Hawkins was about three months pregnant, Collins said. – Carolyn Peirce
