A woman who was seven-months pregnant and her unborn child died after her minivan was crushed in a five-vehicle pileup with a tractor-trailer Friday in Glen Burnie.

Six people were injured, and Interstate 97 was closed for three hours, delaying school buses and snarling Memorial Day weekend traffic.

A FedEx tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, a minivan and two other cars collided at 11:28 a.m. at Interstate 97 and Route 100, police and firefighters said.

Firefighters had to extricate the pregnant woman, 35, from her van before she was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she underwent an emergency Cesarean section, state police and firefighters said.
