SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - For the 12th year, A La Carte & Art returns to Mountain View’s Castro Street, kicking off the festival season and showcasing artists from the West Coast. The celebration features a juried crafts show featuring works by 250 vendors, food and drink, performances, a farmers’ market, a chefs’ demonstration tent, and activities for children.

The handcrafted wares include original work in glass, ceramics, metals, fiber, leather, wood, jewelry and fine art. Among the items available: vases, flatware, clocks, dishes, wall and table decorations, paperweights, stained and beveled glass, etchings, sculptures, photography, oil and watercolor paintings, beadwork, gold and silver jewelry, vests, handbags, hats, wallets, footwear, wind chimes and waterfalls.

“Everything you’ll see is handcrafted by the exhibiting artist,” says Nancie Allie of California Artists. “It’s a juried show to ensure that the quality of product remains high and diverse.”

The festival is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Castro Street from Church Street to Evelyn Avenue. Admission is free. Call (650) 964-3395 or visit www.miramarevents.com.
