Howard County (Map, News) - The Howard police department honored Cpl. Scott Wheeler, who died in the line of duty in 2007, and five other officers during a memorial ceremony Friday in Ellicott City.

Wheeler’s name was added to the Memorial Garden at police headquarters.

In addition to Wheeler the department memorialized Charles Weber, Frank Miller, Randy Brightwell, Ted Wolf Sr., and Roger Cassell Jr.

Of the 186 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in the United States, four lost their lives in Maryland including Wheeler, who was struck by a car in June as he attempted to stop the driver for speeding.
