Article History SAN DIEGO (Map, News) - The FBI has released surveillance video of a powerful pipe bomb explosion in the lobby of the federal courthouse in downtown San Diego.
The FBI says it released the video Friday in hopes that it would prompt anyone with information about the bomb to contact investigators.
Agency spokesman Darrell Foxworth says the explosion early Sunday morning could have been fatal if anyone had been nearby.
The FBI has recovered more than 100 nails and other shrapnel up to two blocks from the courthouse. Foxworth says dogs have tracked scents left behind by the attackers, who fled on foot.
Investigators are trying to determine if there is a link to a bomb that exploded April 25 at a FedEx building in San Diego.
