SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - The Lennar Corp. regional vice president will accept an award Thursday night from City of Hope’s local real estate and construction committee for his “significant role in revitalizing Bayview-Hunters Point” and other areas.

What is Lennar’s plan for the Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point? It’s a 10,000-home development. We will have apartments, condos and townhomes. The only product that will not be there will be single-family detached homes. There’s also a 600- or 700-foot shopping complex.

When will work on the next phases begin? We would probably start grading and infrastructure work in 2010. The City has said that we are working on a schedule and a plan that includes the 49ers. If they choose to come, there will be a place and a schedule that meets their needs.

What is Proposition G, which will be on the June ballot? Proposition G provides the authority for The City to convey city Park and Rec property — the property that currently is Monster Park.

Proposition F, on the June ballot, would require half of the homes be built for very-low-income earners. What if it passes? If Proposition F passes, it would be my recommendation to the corporation that it is financially infeasible to work on the remainder of the shipyard and Candlestick Point.

Who supports Proposition F? The majority of the people who are supportive of Proposition F hate Lennar. It is a cynical, political move couched in an affordable-housing measure.

What is your reaction to your upcoming award? I’m extremely flattered that the City of Hope has seen fit to provide me this honor. I was certainly surprised by it.

MPD need to really do more than only show up after fact. They need to do more policing and stop making excuses for how laxed they are in solving crimes. They have a protocol that does not help the prosecutors when they do get case. So many families in the District have lost loved ones and have been harassed by MPD that they don't even get the respect of serving and protecting. Read the Inspector General 2007 report of how unprofessional these detectives are. You can read a newspaper and stare into the the tv screen, but families in DC are sick and tired of the murders and tired of being accused of MPD blunders and mishaps...
