Perry, 22, remains on restricted duty pending an internal review of the collision, according to a Fairfax County police news release. She was charged following a criminal review of the case by the county's commonwealth's attorney.
The officer was responding to a call in her cruiser when she struck a vehicle driven by Ashley McIntosh, of Alexandria, as McIntosh pulled onto Route 1 from Boswell Drive.
Fairfax County Police Chief David Rohrer has promised a "comprehensive, balanced and fair investigation of the crash."
The county's police union said it was "disappointed" in the decision to charge Perry.
"Based on our knowledge of the case, we believe our member did not operate her vehicle in a reckless manner," said Marshall Thielen, the union's president.

Amanda Perry has a reputation for being rude, dismissive, and uncaring about "civilians". Chief Rohrer would do himself and the entire community a service if he could find some way to permanently rid the force of her or put her where she can do the least harm. I wonder where all her training went that terrible day she killed an innocent woman.

I couldn't help notice how young they said the officer was. I'm sorry but it bothers me there are cops that young out there.

So much hate. This has nothing to do with rudeness or other bad cop stories. Stick to the topic.

I agree. Unfortunately Fairfax county police are known far and wide for their rudeness however, I don't see how rudeness factored into this incident.

The Fairfax cops are down right rude. They need to remember who they work for. I have respect for all law enforcement when they respect us as citizens who pay their salaries. Just because they are cops does not give them the special privilege of being rude and crude. Its time Fairfax correct this long overdue problem

This strench of Route 1 is very busy and alot of lights and signage. There are at least 4 lanes going and coming, not counting the many turn lanes. I have been of this road , with these condictions and have done same as the women whom the officer had hit. If you can't pull into the slow lane without some fool (this time it was an officer) speeding in the foremost right hand lane. They seem to not use the siren, I guess it would show how much Police presence that is in the area, if they used it all the time. Well Dang, this area you need to use all the warning you can. Flashing lights don't make a police car vivible in this given area, the lights blend into all the other lights.

Someone has to stop these robo cops I once saw a Mclean Police officer run the back of a young driver's car off the lane and speed away. He never stopped to exchange any paperwork. It happened so fast we could not see the number. When we went to the police station . The officer never reported this, or he did and everyone was covering his ass. The young driver had over $ 3000 inb damage
