SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Another chance at a plea deal went sour for Eric Hunt, who is accused of pulling Nobel laureate and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel out of an elevator in February 2007.

After a lengthy discussion in the chambers of Superior Court Judge Ksenia Tsenin on Thursday, Hunt emerged with his attorney only to set a June 13 trial date.

Prosecutors say Hunt tried to force Wiesel into his room at the Argent Hotel, but ran away when Wiesel clutched his heart and began yelling.

Hunt’s attorney, John Runfola, claims Hunt broke down in a bipolar episode just after he left college. The breakdown manifested in an anti-Semitic Holocaust-denying dream world that he has since snapped out of.
